New Leadership at the Coalition for Nursing Careers in California

Linda D. Gregory, RN, BSN, has been named Manager of the Coalition for Nursing Careers in California (CNCC), replacing Susan Cheney, RN.

Over the last three years Coalition members have developed the chooseNursing.com web site and the Nurse Ambassador program. Gregory will continue with efforts to build an adequate and diverse nursing workforce for California. Her immediate priorities will focus on the dissemination of a newly created Public Service Announcement (PSA) and building community partnerships to ensure that the new California workforce is representative of the state.

She will also focus on the continued development of the chooseNursing.com web site. The web site is a resource to those young people seeking information about a career in nursing. It encourages higher education as well as promotes nursing as an exciting and financially rewarding career with unlimited opportunities. Gregory will also concentrate on The Ambassador for Nursing Program, designed as a "call-to-action" outreach for nurses to educate and influence the public, and particularly young people's perception of nursing.

As a Kaiser Permanente employee for 18 years, Gregory most recently held the position as Nurse Outreach Manager for the East Bay Service Area. This role was significant in facilitating an internal outreach for nursing staff and managers and the communication of the Nursing Pathways as a means to empower nurses and positively influence the practice work environment. Gregory participates in community health promotion by volunteering at Kaiser Permanente sponsored Health Fairs and Annual Health Education Fairs sponsored by Allen Temple Baptist Church. She is an active member of the Association of California Nurse Leaders, Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International, The National Black Nurses Association, and the Bay Area Black Nurses Association.
