The California
Nursing Students’ Association held it’s 2003
convention from February 28-March 2 at the Riverside Convention
Center in Riverside, California. The theme for this year’s
conference was “The Many Faces of Nursing.”
The 250 conference attendees participated
in events ranging from the House of Delegates where resolutions
on nursing topics were debated, to the open exhibitor area
where participants met and interacted with exhibitors, recruiters,
school representatives and other programs. There were also
educational sessions. Topics such as leadership, legislative
activism, and occupational health nursing were offered. Chapter
Development workshops gave each school chapter an opportunity
to share ideas on successful strategies for chapter development.
Speakers introduced information about different nursing specialties
such as forensic nursing.
The students were very interested in chooseNursing.com’s outreach presentation
tools. They saw them as a way to help with their Break-Through
to Nursing requirements. Many students were aware of chooseNursing.com’s
scholarships and were very excited to hear of our plans to
continue the scholarship program. CNSA Board member Brent
Peterson states, “This year’s CNSA’s annual
conference was a great success and a lot of fun. It was great
to seechooseNursing.com
there. It is nice to know that there is an organization out
there that is dedicated to the success of, not only the students,
but the nursing profession as a whole.”
CNCC member Katie Bray said, “Attending
the California Nursing Students Association is always exhilarating.
The students are always high energy and remind me why I chose
the profession many years ago. It is also exciting to see
them react to our www.choosenursing.com campaign. They are
our best ambassadors to nursing, the noblest of professions.”

The students were very excited to be
at the conference and spoke enthusiastically regarding their
future as professional nurses. The passion and love of nursing
from the students, speakers, and other participants was very
prominent throughout the conference, paving way for CNSA conferences
to come.
